Book Fairy!
Jan. 31st, 2009 06:25 pmGuess what the Book Fairy sent me!

A review copy of
janni's Bones of Faerie, a post-apocalyptic YA Faerie novel, showed up on my doorstep today, courtesy of a kindly publicity person at Random House. Maybe somebody read my Friday post and decided to answer my hopes.
Yay! Now I can read it right after I finish the (flufftastically awesome) Let It Snow, which I have devoured and am now 2/3 done with.
I also feel the need to add that I spent most of my Friday night reading time re-reading and re-re-reading Jellicoe Road, flipping through it and flipping through it some more, jiggering and rejiggering the pieces--not to make them make sense, because by the end of the book they already do that--but to let them all slide around in my mind some more, and so I wouldn't have to give up the characters. I love them all so much. I miss them like a physical pain.
I'm still carting Jellicoe around with my next to the book I'm currently reading, as if it would be a torment to let it get too far away.
I'm going to review it soon, hopefully. Right now it's still percolating around in my head. Right now, all I can say is read it. It's amazing. Starts slow, but stick with it, because it's seriously amazing.
So watch this space! Jellicoe Road review to come, and them soon after that, Bones of Faerie!

Date: 2009-01-31 11:47 pm (UTC)It's a post-apocalyptic YA Faerie book, which is basically all of my favorite things in one place, so you can imagine how excited I am.

Date: 2009-01-31 11:58 pm (UTC)I've been putting together a chronology of things that happened in the book, and the more I realize how much came together the more I love it.

Date: 2009-02-01 12:01 am (UTC)I just--it's all too much. I love them so much. And I never do this--no matter how much I love a book, once I read it, it's done. I'll usually reread eventually, but a while down the line, after I lend it out or something. Never right away.
But every time I flip through it and read and reread, it feels like a new book. There's just so much. So many pieces.
I want to see your chronology. And I want to discuss it more with you, but I feel like everything I want to say has a spoiler in it.

Date: 2009-02-01 12:03 am (UTC)(And now you know why I was impatient for you to read it. This is the kind of book that needs to be shared, and it's hard to do that with people who aren't spoiled.)
Also, my first big post on the book is here, although it's mostly just LOOK HOW AWESOMELY THIS FITS WITH THIS! and a lot of grinning at the screen.

Date: 2009-02-01 12:10 am (UTC)I don't even know how to review it. I feel like everything I want to say is a spoiler. Even who I love. Even the fact that the book isn't actually about _____, which is what I thought for the first 200 pages, but is really about _____. There is so much. My heart is so full.
