You're probably familiar with [livejournal.com profile] holiday_wishes. You post a holiday wishlist, people send you things, you try to fulfill other people's wishes. It's nice and full of holiday spirit.

I haven't put together a wishlist yet, but I was perusing the comm for fun, and I came across a post that I wanted to draw your attention to.

[livejournal.com profile] drocera is using her holiday wishlist to ask for gifts for residents of her grandmother's nursing home.

It's such a sweet idea, and from what she describes, the residents' holidays would be brightened so easily by so little. Among the items she lists:

Hats and scarves are always appreciated, as would be throws, chapsticks, reading material, sugar free treats, lotions, perfumes, stuffed animals, brooches, little jewelry items...or like I said before - cards...dollar bills (she uses these to put into the collection plate of her church every Sunday and she'd feel somewhat independent, I think, if she didnt have to ask her non-religious family for her weekly tithe)....or really any little thing would make her happy.

I think it's a really nice idea. If you're thinking of brightening a stranger's holiday this year, I just thought I'd call your attention to these people.

Sometimes it takes so little to make someone else so very happy.

This post reminds me--I got an email that the girl you pointed us to vote for in the Wells Fargo "Someday Stories"...thingy...won the 100K award! That's so exciting.

And thanks for this pointer, too.
