Jan. 22nd, 2003 10:31 amTaken from his blog from the Jan20 entry:
Writing Sandman broke all my responses to nightmares. I mean, I know I'm meant to be troubled by them, they're nightmares after all, but for years I'd wake so thrilled by nightmares that they became more and more infrequent, and you could almost hear them grumbling backstage as I woke up -- "I dunno what's wrong, I'm losing it, I did the whole corpse-with-a-knife coming at him bit, and he starts screaming 'This is so cool, I can use this!' I'm gutted, it's just awful, I'm losing it." "Nah, you're great, Oswald, you're still the best, it's him."
So this is just to say that I had a nightmare and awoke going "wow, now that was amazing!": a strange and intricately plotted story, involving at one point, the projectile vomiting of an enormous number of worms, and towards the end, a murderous identity-swap with an alien demon.
:grins: I love his mind.

Every day for a year I passed his picture on the back of American Gods, and every dsay I said, "He's gorgeous," without caring at all. But when I started to read his blog, I was enchanted. He's a good writer, he's charming and smart and self-effacing and funny, he's a devoted father, he's just generally adorable.
Interestingly, I find his friend and quondam writing partner just as attractive -- the short, stocky, bald, bearded Terry Pratchett. And no, it isn't just the British accent. It's his astonishing heart and mind.

Date: 2003-01-23 12:22 pm (UTC)**sticks a little flag in the ground claiming this part of bonnie/navah's journal for Neil-Lust, as opposed to the Aragorn/Viggo-Lust which all the rest of the journal is claimed for**
Though I do find, curiously, that he (Neil) looks hung-over surprisingly often, and when he actually is hung-over he looks like he should should never have left bed. It gives me odd urges to make him tea and feed him homeopathic remedies.

And, yus. It was most definitly the blog that did me in. Such a fecking brilliant, interesting, wildly and frighteningly bizzare and creative mind...I could just talk with him all day every day...
(and look, I didn't even use the you know who icon...remarkable self control, I think. :preens:)
