HOMG!

A third book in the Life as We Knew It/the dead & the gone set! With recurring characters from those books! And a plot instead of a series of disasters! And rebuilt-society-after-world-changing-disaster!

Why didn't any of you people tell me about this?

You all fail.

I can't wait until Spring 10.

You read The City, Not Long After, right? My favorite kind of post-apoc is actually post the apoc, when society has reshaped itself into something familiar but not. I am thrilled beyond words that Susan Beth Pfeffer is finally going there.

I need a post-apoc icon.

I am somewhat terrified. And yet: oooooooh.

In some of the more recent posts on the subject Pfeffer basically addressed the fact that the first and second books were less plot driven and more disaster driven. And while that really worked for the first book, it worked...not as well for the second book. I still loved it, because that's the way I am, but it didn't come close to LAWKI. She says that this book is going to have a plot, and take place sixteen years after the disaster, and be about the rebuilt society, and ooooh. That's my favorite kind of post-apoc. I didn't think she could do anything to get me as excited as I was when I found out there was going to be a disaster book in NYC, but she did.

I felt the same way about the second one.

A post-apocalypticon!

Yes, that is my favorite kind of post apoc fic too - after the event, how do they rebuild? love love love.

I don't think it's actually sold yet, so I was waiting to tell you. Yeah, that's my story and I'm sticking with it!

Also, I assumed you already knew. :-)

Ooooh, that is exciting. Though I'm mildly worried, since I was so freaking excited about post-apocalyptic NYC, but found the dead and the gone to be... pretty eh.

But still! After-the-fact rebuilt society + recurring characters = hells yeah! Also, BEA's back in NY next year, which means potential ARCs if the timing is right. Woooo!

Woohoo! That's great news. Thank you for posting this! I loved LAWKI but was disappointed in TDATG; The plans for the new book sound nifty. Yay! Definitely something to look forward to.
