So here is the update:

I can't fax it to him, because the marine sat fax he uses is out of special paper (and when you live far, far away, it takes time to get a refill.)

I can email it to him, but he only has email on his cellphone, and he can't open attachments unless he drives several hours away to a town with different cellphone technology (I have no idea what that means) so can I post the queries in the body of the email? (Answer: no.)

He does have friends coming to visit him on May 15, so I could resend them the CEM and they could hand deliver it.

And then after that it could take another two weeks to get back to us, not counting the time it will take him to work on it.

I am going to spend my time constructively converting the file into a tracked PDF.

And then I am going to calmly try not to kill him over the phone lines.

So, watching House has informed me that people living in Antarctica have better lines of communication than this person. Good lord.

He seriously lives far, far away. On a remote island.

I really can't deal with this. I want to kill something. Preferrably him.

Gggrargh. If he has a phone, he should be able to have email on a normal computer. Is it a nice tropical island or something? Could someone, say, plan a vacation there and then just happen to beat him with heavy objects while there?

DAYUM. So who are the friends going to visit this guy? The Skipper, Maryanne, Ginger, The Professor, and Mr. and Mrs. Howell?

This is insane. It's th 21st century.

LOL, you know, I totally understand this. When we go up north this is very similar to how we work.

I totally feel your pain.

So many authors spend so much time alone in their created worlds that sometimes you just want to shake them and be like, "HEY! WAKE UP! THIS IS HOW THE WORLD WORKS!...and you are ruining my life."

Having a roommate who works for MSF (Doctors Without Borders) who has worked in some pretty remote locations and is without even email access for weeks at a time sometimes, I do have some sympathy for the guy.

But I have lots of sympathy for you, too! And he should have realized about the queries. Or at least asked if there were any sticky notes.

I bet he doesn't spend days not getting writing done because he's surfing the web, though!
