Bookses! Free bookses!
Jul. 28th, 2003 04:01 pmOne of the spiffy things about working at Norton is the free books thing. When a new books comes out, the mailroom guys take a whole pile of them and put them in everybody's inbox (not mine, though - I'm an intern. I don't have a permanant office, less an inbox.) Two weeks ago, right before we went to Maine, I passed the unattended mailroom cart with a copy of The Art of X2 in it. Naturally, I was baffled, as it wasn't a Norton book. Very strange. I wanted one, but there weren't any extra floating around the mailroom when I checked.
Next day. I go down to the mailroom as they're unloading, and they're unloading a whole pile of The Art of The Hulk (which I have utterly no interest in, even if it did have Jennifer Connoly. Perfectly horrid movie.) But it was still odd, as neither was put out by Norton. Upon asking, the mailroom guy told me that they were Norton affiliates. I asked him to keep an eye out for any more X2 books, and he said he would.
Today: I'm leaving the mailroom, going up the stairs, and one of the mailroom guys starts following me. I turn around, and it's him! And he's got a copy of The Art of X2: Special Edition in hardcover for me! He remembered, and he got me one, and now I have the spiffiest of all spiffy free books!
