Bookses! Glorious bookses!

Good morning! It's a beautiful day! Spring has finally arrived, and it's glorious! Oh, but I love the city in the Spring (well, I love the city in all seasons. But in the spring it's especially wonderful.)

I went to the library this morning to pick up all those glorious distractions sometimes known as books. I've now got Abarat by Clive Barker, A Fistful of Sky by Nina Kiriki Hoffman, A Wizard Alone by Diane Duane (woohoo!), The Graveyard Game by Kage Baker (yes, yet another Mendoza book. I can't help it! They're addictive!), A Scattering of Jades by Alexander C. Irvine (This I'd never heard of before - I picked it up on whim. Anyone read it?), The Princes in the Tower by Alison Weir (for the other side of the Richard III discussions), and the crowning glory, Kushiel's Avatar by Jacqueline Carey (wooohooo!).

And no time to read, of course.

I've got to get a move on and read The Princes in the Tower so I can debate Prof. Pahmer on the subject/give it to him to read. It scares me, though - I was very convinced of the innocence of Richard III by The Daughter of Time, and I can see that this book is rather convincing in the other direction.

I'm happily prepared to read both and see what comes out of it, but at the same time - does anyone know of any good books defending Richard III? (aside from Josephine Tey's Daughter of Time.)

There's a pro-Richard Audrey Williamson book called "The Princes in The Tower" and there was a BBC debate about 10-15 years ago where a jury from the audience found him innocent. The Richard III Society (try google) will have a comprehensive bibliography. Don't rely on The Daughter of Time if debating with a really sharp member of the opposition - it's great entry level stuff to the debate, but she allows her biases to get in the way of the actual arguments, and she ignores the competing claims of the Duke of Buckingham as the murderer altogether

Thanks. At this point I'm less interested in finding pro-Richard books than finding unbiased (if that's possible) books. I'm underwhelmed with Alison Weir's The Princes in the Tower - granted, I came into it with a slight pro-Richard bias, but even so, it seems extremely skewed towards his guilt.

The Daughter of Time was lovely, and sparked my interest in the whole issue, but I'm quickly seeing that it's just a beginning.
