Come with me if you want to live.
Mar. 29th, 2009 03:31 pmIf you are not watching Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, you are missing the best thing on TV right now, bar none.
This show is smart. It is so very smart. It has fascinating, complex characters, and it really, truly develops them. It builds on classic canon and takes it to brilliant new places. It sets up its plot, slowly, slowly, and then, bam! it delivers.
I just caught up on the last two episodes, and I am agog with how good it is. I haven't seen anything this good on TV since, um. I can't remember when.
Watch this show. It's a little uneven at the beginning, but trust me--it delivers. It is so brilliant. I am ashiver with waiting to see how they will finish it. I am stubbornly refusing to believe that it will get canceled. I am watching it on Hulu about 20 times a day (with my computer, not my eyes) to try and give the ratings any boost I can.
Watch this show.
I am sure we are not the only ones to pick up on this, but holy cow, you guys. The T-1000 on the Jimmy Carter told John Connor that their answer was no, that they wouldn't join them--most likely because of the way things went down on the Jimmy Carter--the violence, man against man against machine, the fact that the first thing the T-1000 saw was a human pointing a gun at it.
So the answer was no.
But we know that there are many futures, and all of them are different. So--in another future, the answer was yes. And in that future, John Connor sent Catherine Weaver back to build a different kind of Skynet--the kind that has morals and values human life.
I LOVE IT I HAVE CHILLS.
And I loved seeing John be--well, John Connor. I am so happy that he knew about Riley and he knew about Jesse, and he played it close to his chest, that he was able to look beyond his grief to see that Cameron did not kill Riley. I love that he is already this much of a strategist.
And I also love that we get to see him break down--and that the first one he turns to is Cameron, before collapsing on his mother. Already he is starting to turn to her first.
I LOVE THIS SHOW.
I love that we get to see Skynet in action. Skynet is fighting for its own future and existence. It does not want to get edged out by John Henry.

I... totally never thought of that, but it's a theory that definitely makes me rethink some of the stuff that's gone down.
As I've said before, I was sad when Dekker left Heroes because I liked his character. But watching SCC, I'm cool with it now.
