I am a very happy camper right now.

Barnes and Noble has finally, finally, finally opened up a few blocks away from me. I have long said that what my neighborhood really needed was a bookstore, and now? We have one!

They were having an opening party - live violinists, free coffee, lots of books!

I emerged with Wren to the Rescue, Wren's Quest and Wren's War by Sherwood Smith, which is overwhelmingly exciting considering that Wren to the Rescue was one of my favorite books when I was younger. It spent more time in my room than in the library, and when I found out that there were sequals, I was thrilled - until I couldn't manage to track them down for love or money.

But now I have all three of them and I cannot wait to reread the first and read the other two for the first time.

Also bought A Million Open Doors, one of my favorite John Barnes books that I've been meaning to pick up for a while.

Happy now.

I sure hope Wren is still entertaining!

Oh, she is. I opened up Wren to the Rescue and read the firt few pages, and I'm enjoying it just as much as I did the first time. Really, you have no idea how thrilled I am that Firebird reprinted these. I think there was actual squee! involved when I saw them on the shelves in Barnes and Noble.

omg! *twirls you* I love the Wren books! They are so damn wonderful and squee! Someone else who knows them!

Oh, man. I'm sorry. I'm just very excited. Now I want to re-read those. And I'd forgotten they were being re-printed. I've got the first two, this is the perfect opportunity to finally get a copy of War for my very own.

Ah--the Wren reprints are out now. How very cool!

Since we already have copies of the originals printings, we'll have to find people to gift with copies, instead. :-)

You've read the Wren books! :thrills: I knew Firebird was reprinting them, and I still squeed when I saw them on the shelf. I think there was actual, literal squee! involved.

I totally share the excitement. :is excited:

Hey, I get serious squee just from the thought of anyone buying it. Of course I am afeared it will stay on the shelves two weeks and then vanish like a blip from customer indifference, like so many other books.

It really puts a different spin on things when you misread the first sentence as I am not a very happy camper right now.
I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop. Am still strangely unfulfilled.
