Oh, come on. I mean, I’ve seen some pretty dumb things before (hello, Computers for Dummies!) but this still amazes me. There’s an article in the Week in Review, in today’s NY Times that discusses a lawsuit against McDonalds. Why were they on trial? Because their slogans such as “McChicken everyday!” and “Big N’ Tasty Everyday!” as well as a statement on their website that claims that “McDonald’s can be a part of any balanced diet and lifestyle” encourage people to eat daily at McDonalds, which might not be healthy to them.

Oh, come on. I mean, seriously! What do you expect them to say? “Our food’s really bad for you, don’t eat here!”? They’re in business. Caveat emptor, folks. Buyer beware. Nobody’s forcing however many millions of people a day to eat at McDonalds. If people are stupid enough to believe that just because McDonalds tell people “McChicken everyday!” it’s good for them, well, they deserve what they get.

It’s a big world, folks, and people are out to make money in it, even if that means selling you something you probably wouldn’t want or need if you thought about it a little. Should every businessman who sells something useless be sued for claiming that “you can’t live without this wonderful product!”? No. Business is business. If you get fat because McDonalds is your staple food, that’s your own freaking fault. Take responsibility for your own actions, America, and learn to live with the consequences.

"[livejournal.com profile] musesfool makes a good point, which is that even if you're not a fan of (American) football, the fact that the two Superbowl teams are the Raiders and the Buccaneers means that you can spend all day making pirate noises."

Moo-ha-ha. I am going to have fun with this. It's almost as fun as Sept19, annual Talk-like-a-pirate Day. Come on. You know you want to...
