It's snowing! Eeeeee!

Okay, so it's not going to stick in the city, but still. It feels like christmas morning or something. I woke up to my roomate saying "it's snowing!!!" and then we foiund little presents in our room, keychains from the school. they even look like christmas tree ornaments ::grins:: Highly amusing, considering that this is a jewish school.

okie. bio test is today. I'm calmer about it, sorta fatalistic. i did well on the first lab test and the first bio test - so I think I can afford to screw this one up pretty badly - not that i want to, mind you - jsut that i think i can afford to. i've created all sorts of mnemonic devices that are literally the stupidest things in the world, i don't understand anything, and i jsut did lots of practice tests (he puts all his old tests on reserve in the library).

i got my polemics midterm back yesterday. i was convinced i had failed and was all ready to pass/fail the course, but - i got a 90! I'm still in shock - i feel like i pulled some sort of major scam - i literally bsed the whole test. ::shrug:: I honestly have no idea how that happened. miracle of miracles, i'm actually not failing out of college - i'm doing pretty well! (talk to me again after this month and my 5 papers and finals...) In any case. Cool.

i love love love love lvoe fencing with the biggest passion. i definitly want to be on the team next year, and according to judy (fencing teacher extrodinaire) i'm not hopeles, even though i have to unlearn years of habit of fencing with broken table legs in the living room with my sister. I'm actually good at it - i've never been good at a sport before - and i really enjoy it. it's tricky and complex and interesting, and you have to think of so much at once and i love it.b it makes me so happy. i'm sad we have so few classes left. we want her to offer intermediate fencing next semester, but i don't think it'll work out. we've been divided into poolsnow - we're fencing everyone in our pool - shoshana, miriam and liora and i are all in the same pool, which is cool and probably deliberate - i'm glad, because i have the most fun when i'm with them.

i have to go to the library today - annoying 'cause it's snowing, but ah well. i'll probably get another wonderful book to distract me from what i'm really supposed to be doing. that library has tenbookshelves of sf/f, and that's just in the hardcover section. it culd keep me occupied for days.

and that's my story.

Wheeee!

The snow is annoying and irritating and has come at the worst possible time for me - but I can't help but love it anyway. Walking to the library through the snow, seeing it swirling and drifting down gently everywhere, all over the pretty seasonal decorations on the streets...it just makes me so happy. I love the city in the snow! Well, I love the city all the time. Much as I love the country, and often insist that I'm not, I really am a city girl. I love the city, I love the rush of life and pulse and heartbeat it carries. i'm very aware of the realities of the city, and the ugly underside, but I'm very much in love with the city despite - or maybe because - of everything the city is.
And, I love NYPL. New York Public Library. Every time I go, they hold another treat for me. I got 2 Jonathan Carrolls (I am newly addicted to his writing. He's fair brilliant. His reading was wonderful, and Sleeping in Flame is still haunting me.), two collections, a Dragonlance book (I haven't read those in ages! but it looked like fun), and catcher in the rye and angela carter's magic toyshop and jack zipes' don't bet on the prince for school.

I can't help it. I love the snow.
