Aval Katzefet Lo Neshek!

Taken from today's Jerusalem Post Online:

Sharansky hit by pie during US campus speech

Minister-without-Portfolio Natan Sharansky was hit in the face with a cream pie just before he was scheduled to give a speech at Rutgers University, in New Jersey.

Sharansky was about to address a crowd of about 500 people on "a Jewish perspective of the road to peace" when Jewish student Abe Greenhouse, a member of a pro-Palestinian group, threw the pie.

After cleaning up, the amused Sharansky returned a few moments later and gave his speech, remarking that New Jersey possesses a warm community that "cooks very good cakes" and that he hoped "the cake was kosher."

Greenhouse was removed from the room by campus police and later charged with disorderly conduct, Rutgers Police Chief Barry Roberson said.

It was unclear why Greenhouse threw the pie, though a pro-Palestinian student group, New Jersey Solidarity, had vowed to carry out a "hate festival" during Sharansky's visit. The group hale a demonstration on campus while Sharansky was speaking.

Sharansky is touring 13 campuses in North America, speaking about democracy and human rights in the Middle East. His spokesman said there was a false fire alarm prior to his speech in Toronto, and a bomb threat before his speech in Boston. Sharansky has said that nothing will stop him from finishing his tour. He returns to Israel on Saturday night.

Dude, if that's the extent of your hate crimes, bring it on. :D

*snickers*

Did you know this pie-flinging thing is something of an epidemic? A similar incident happened in August, involving Ralph Nader. That is, the pie hit Ralph Nader.

Also, there's something incongruent about New Jersey being a "warm community."

Transferred adjective... perhaps the community threw a warm pie? ;)

It is an epidemic. One of my new stories from last year or so, was when some disgruntled Israeli walked into the Knesset (Israeli Parliment) with a cream pie and hurled it into the face of one of the Ministers. When questioned on how they could let this nut in, the security guards protested, "Aval Katzefet Lo Neshek!" - A cream pie isn't a weapon!

It is now...:D
